Climate Change Mitigation

Agroforestry acts as a carbon sink, aiding India’s carbon neutrality goals by sequestering CO₂ and enhancing biodiversity, as outlined in the National Agroforestry Policy (NAP) of 2014. It can increase soil organic carbon by 8–12% in regions like the Deccan Plateau and Western Ghats, with resilient species like bamboo and neem being particularly effective for carbon capture.

Biodiversity Enhancement

Agroforestry systems promote biodiversity by creating diverse habitats for flora and fauna. In regions where monoculture has affected biodiversity, such as parts of the Indo-Gangetic Plains, integrating multiple tree species has helped in restoring ecosystems and providing habitats for various birds, insects, and small mammals

Water Conservation and Soil Health

By providing shade and reducing wind speed, trees improve water retention in soils, which is especially valuable in semi-arid regions like Rajasthan and Gujarat. They also help reduce salinity and acidity, improving soil quality over time.Trees with deep root systems, like acacia and neem, prevent soil erosion and maintain nutrient levels, aiding in sustainable agricultural practices

Refreshed by the rains 🌿 At ET Agro, we're growing a variety of trees and plants with an aim to create a green oasis. From providing shade to improving air quality, and producing fresh, seasonal fruits and veggies, each tree or plant makes a big difference. Can't wait to see them flourish!
